The worst part of going on vacation, for me, is coming home and unpacking, doing laundry, and cleaning the house. Welcome home, right? Bleh! Well, yesterday, I decided that before I was going to stuff any clothes back into my overflowing drawers and closet, I needed to do some purging (of clothes of course!) So, I went to work taking clothes that I haven't worn in forever, and pretty much forgot that I had, and putting them all in a nice, big pile on my bed. I have been trying to persuade my husband that I need some new clothes, but he refuses to let my buy any because he thinks I have too many already. Well, he can't say that now! This is my "give-away pile":
I think that I can afford to get a few new things to replace all of this, right? Feel free to tell my husband if you agree ;o)
Anyway, I feel like I was pretty productive yesterday! I even folded some laundry last night (while watching The Bachelor). Oh, and I went to the library and checked out Les Miserables....watch out! I'm going to try to tackle this 1,463 tiny-printed-page book in the 6 weeks that they let me check it out for.
I feel like I will officially be able to call myself "well read" once I finish this mammoth of a novel. We'll see if I can stick with it. Maybe some of you should check in with my progress to make sure I don't give up. I tend to do that with long (sometimes boring?) books. Does anyone else have this problem? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE reading, but the book has to really catch my attention from page 1 for me to really be interested. Anyway, I'd like to thank my friend Erin for inspiring me to read Les Miserables. So, Erin, if you're reading this....thanks! I hope I can get through it!

I once began to climb the mountain of Les Mis and didn't make it. Hugo just gets so descriptive which makes it a little easier to set down. Once another school year began, I gave up. One day...
ReplyDeleteI read Les Mis while in HS. It can get pretty tedious, but it's well worth it! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI don't think ours is quite that long - maybe we have an abridged version! Hang in there. It starts a little slow - but it is one of the best books I have ever read. You won't be sorry.
