Computer envy

We are a one computer family. My husband is the only person I know who went through college and almost two years of post-grad school with out owning his own computer. Seriously, who is this guy? Anyway, there are a myriad of reasons having a lap top would make his school life a ton easier, so last Christmas (not two months ago--over a year ago) his parents gave him some money to buy a computer. Super nice, right? Well, my cheapskate good-deal-hunter of a husband has been searching for the "right" computer at the "right" price ever since my loving in-laws gave him that money.
As for now, he loves to torture me by taking my computer with him to school all day and leave me, like an Amish person, with out access to the world wide interwebs for hours on end. Not cool, babe, not cool. Sometimes (ok more like all the time) when he "needs" to take my computer I throw a fit similar to those of my one-year-old child, because his school has an entire room filled with computers that he can use. It's just more convenient for him to take my lap top. Now here's my question. Am I a selfish jerk for not letting him take my only source of communication with the outside world, the thing that keeps me sane while my child is napping? It's not my fault that he hasn't bought his own computer. He has the money, he just refuses to use it. Mostly I just want to not feel guilty when I don't let him use my computer, so if you all could be on my side with this, it would be really great. Kthanks.
(and I've heard the "we're married what's mine is yours and yours is mine" schpeel far too many times. It won't work on me)

    Oh Weston. Tell him that usually the best deals for computers are the back-to-school sales, and right after Christmas. So, conveniently for you, now (generally speaking) should be a good time to buy.

    Agreed- that's not cool that he takes your computer. I do EVERYTHING on the computer! You should give him an ultimatum and deadline for purchasing said computer ;)

    Don't be selfish...go ahead and let him take your computer and you take the money and get yourself the new one! :^)

    Heck no! Are you kidding me??? I would so be annoyed if my husband did that... I NEED a computer. I use it more than my phone. You are TOTALLY justified my dear. Time to spend that money and get him his own laptop!

    Take the money ( plus the usage fee and interest for a year) and get yourself a new imac since yours is what, 3 years old now? Let him have the old one!!!!
